ABOUT
OUR HISTORY
The Miss Juneteenth Scholarship Program (MJSP) was founded in November 2002 by Elouise Sparks, who also
serves as the Director. The inaugural pageant took place on June 14, 2003, at Pasco High School Auditorium.
The mission of the MJSP is to provide African American girls in grades 10 through 12 with the opportunity to
earn college scholarships. In addition to this, the program offers preparatory classes designed to develop
essential skills such as leadership, communication, and interviewing. The pageant also serves as a platform for
these young women to showcase their talents in speech, poetry, drama, music, and dance. Moreover, the
program fosters an environment where these young ladies can build lasting friendships with other high school
girls in the local community.
